Educational Requirements
Most EKG technicians attend a one-year certificate program at a community or technical college or are trained on the job by a cardiologist or EKG supervisor at a hospital, doctor's office, or clinic. A high school diploma and some form of formal training are mandatory for employment. Many employers prefer allied health professionals with EKG training.
